Your mind wantsthe best for you

Mindkin is here to help people be at peace with their inner world and move toward the life they want to live.

What Mindkin is

Look inward, then move forward

Mindkin is a self-led practice for getting to know your own mind. It draws on Internal Family Systems, which sees the mind as made up of parts, each trying to help in its own way. The part of you that judges every mistake is usually trying to keep you safe, even when it makes life harder.

Each session guides you with questions, one at a time, and you answer in your own words. Over time you come to understand the parts that shape how you feel and what you do.

Looking inward can help, and it can also keep you going in circles. Mindkin asks you to listen for what a reaction is trying to do for you rather than put a label on it. Then it points you back toward your life, helping you picture where you want to be in the future and turn that into concrete steps.

Where it fits

Where Mindkin fits

Mindkin is a tool for self-reflection available anywhere to anyone. It asks questions and leaves the answers to you. It won’t put a label on you, and it won’t treat you as fragile, because we don’t think you are.

It’s made for the ordinary hard parts of life. If what you’re facing is more than that, please reach out to a therapist or a doctor. Mindkin is not psychotherapy and does not replace it.

Beliefs

What we believe

People are good

At heart, people are good, and so are their minds. Even the reactions we struggle with most usually began as a way to protect us. Once you see that, it gets easier to work with yourself instead of against yourself.

Hard feelings are part of life

Everyone feels worry and sadness, and most of the time these feelings are reactions to something real in your life. They can be understood and handled. We want to help you get better at that, without teaching you to see yourself as unwell.

Therapy helps many people, and some need it. Many others can get further on their own than they might expect.

You can find your own answers

You know your life better than anyone else can. We’d rather help you find your own answers than hand ours to you. The structure of the sessions is designed to move you toward personal insights in a way that is easy to follow.

Reflection and action belong together

Understanding yourself is half the work. The other half is deciding where you want to go and taking steps to get there. Real progress tends to happen when the two go together. Confidence grows each time you face something hard and find you can handle it.

Today

Where we are today

Mindkin is new. Today it starts with an introduction of five sessions, then it opens you up for continuous practice through a range of sessions. There’s a lot more we want to build, and all of it will serve the same mission.

Founder’s note

Built for myself first

I built Mindkin for myself to replace what I otherwise did meditating or writing. As it has helped me a great deal, I hope it can help you just as much.

For years I tried whatever I could find to feel steadier and make real progress in my life: meditation, breathwork, therapy, working out. Most of it helped for a while, but little of it lasted.

I came across Internal Family Systems while looking for ways to help people close to me who were struggling. I started doing meditations built on it, and for the first time my own reactions made sense. Thoughts and habits I’d never understood turned out to have reasons behind them, and stress that had followed me for years began to ease.

The other thing that has always mattered to me is direction. I’m a deep believer in deliberate action by forming a vision for life and then taking the steps needed to reach it. As a leader, some of my best moments came when someone on my team worked out what they wanted and went after it. Over the years I noticed that the insights that stuck were the ones I actually did something with. Mindkin brings those two things together.

I should be clear that I’m not a therapist. Mindkin is still early, and there’s a lot left to build. Thank you for being here at the beginning.
